Week Two

Week Two:

My second week at Voodoo picked up in work as they realized my capacity in graphic design. At first, I was given previous briefs, memos and debrief forms to see how I would be able to handle the work in a certain amount of time. I took on two clients, Orange and ‘Banque Atlantique’. These clients are really well known in French countries.

The first client ,‘Orange’, is one of the largest operators of mobile and internet services in Europe and Africa and a global leader in corporate telecommunication services. Orange who often works with this company, consulted the Voodoo Group in hopes to create a visually interesting commercial. This commercial was to communicate to the consumers a way for them to be able to receive fast cash transferred immediately to their phone. This design needed to illustrate instructions on how to do that within a taxi. Here was my finish work:

The second client that I worked with was Banque Atlantique. Banque Atlantique is a West African financial services in collection of 7 western countries in Africa. This company wanted a design that would appeal to their audience that are ready for retirement. The design was to illustrate an individual that represents the consumer in an environment that is homey. The objective of this commercial is create a visual that would influence the audience to use ‘Banque Atlantique’.

Working on these projects was very challenging due to the time span given and also having to do extra research on the company before working on their designs. However, the work flow became more effortless and simple. But from challenging to effortless came hard work. The projects required advanced knowledge in Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign. Fortunately, I have some knowledge on those softwares. However, I did have to ask a lot of questions, but with that came process.

Week One

First Week:

Voodoo Communication is a marketing and advertising communication agency located in Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, and Cameroon covering all of the west and center of Africa. There focus is mostly associated with commercials.  They work with several well-known French companies in Cote d'Ivoire such as Orange, Awa, NescafĂ©, Bonnet Rouge and more.

The consulting agency makes available to its customers its expertise in consulting in strategy, creative development, media strategy and purchases, print and audiovisual productions, public relations; to optimally respond to their needs and expectations.

My first week at Voodoo Communication went very well.  I've been placed as a graphic designer in the department of commercial design. The assignments that are given requires that I strategically create several different forms of publications for the clienteles.

There are many different forms that enter the department. These forms are called memos, briefs and debriefs. They all are given so that the graphic designer may work on a new project or edify recent projects that they may have already been working on. A debrief allows the graphic designer to edify a project that the client may want fixed. Once the forms come into the graphic designer’s hand, there is a limited time that the assignment must be completed.

I have been given these assignments for my internship but before that, I was assigned to look around and see how others were doing. I saw many amazing assignments that others were working on and I was able to sit with them and even give them ideas and advice on their project.

Through doing this I found a lot about the different clients that the Voodoo Group takes on. There are many clients that they work with; from airlines to musicians to food products to presidential campaigns. The forms that they work on has its priority, some higher than others. The forms come with a small description of what the client wants and also it comes with the objective of communication that the clienteles want to send out to the public.

Once the form is done and it has gone through the copyright agent here at Voodoo Communication, it then goes back in the hands of the client with a presentation from voodoo to the client.

My first week was full of knowledge on how the inside of the design department works. It was great!
